I absolutely love taking your little one’s photos.. Not only do I get plenty of yummy newborn cuddles, but I also get to dress them in cute outfits and prepare fun props for them to be placed in or play with – depending on their age. I especially like it when mumma and pappa bring a prop along with them to include in their newborns photo session too.
As I get to have so much fun with my baby outfits and props, I thought I’d share with you some of my favourites!
During your newborn’s photoshoot, your beautiful bundle may end up nodding off – depending on how comfortable they are. If this does happen, I like to take full advantage of the opportunity to get them looking cute and cuddly in a sleepy pose. The perfect addition to this pose to make your baby look even more cosy is one of my fluffy outfits and a teeny tiny teddy bear.
If there is enough time and your baby is super comfortable, I might even be able to get them in position on a teeny tiny wooden bed, just like this one – how cute?!
A firm favourite of mine – and for most of my new mum’s and dad’s – is my wooden love heart. Best used when your baby is fully content and sleepy, I love the versatility of it and how I can incorporate any colour theme with it, swaddling your baby with one of my colourful baby friendly wraps.
There is something about making your little baby boy look like a little old gentleman and that’s why I absolutely adore it when mum and dad let me bring out my flat cap and bow tie outfit. What do you think? Cute, right?
As mentioned above, I love it when I can incorporate a prop or outfit that mum or dad brings along. This is something that I do need a bit of warning about, so it’s best to mention it to me when we’re booking your session so I can plan on how I will capture your little one with it or in it, just like these fab family props. I wonder if these little ones will grow up to be like their ballerina or police parent?
I don’t just like to use props and outfits with my newborns, I love to experiment with my older babies too. Using flowers and floral patterns is a great way of adding a splash of colour through props and outfits and it can also help to match your photos with your home’s decor, whilst bringing a bit of fun to the session too.
From flowers to the seasons, a definite favourite is when I can dig out the Christmas santa and reindeer outfits, and easter bunny hats! Of course, with my own birthday in the Autumn, I also jump at the opportunity to add in pumpkins and halloween decorations when I can.
Bubbles are such a great way of capturing the interest of your child, especially those who are 6 months and over. They also create a whimsical dynamic to finished photos, as you can see here, and let’s face it, us adults still enjoy playing with bubbles too – so they’re a firm favourite for all.
I absolutely love doing cake and paint smash first birthday photoshoots as all little ones love to get messy, especially when cake or paint is involved. These “props” make it an extra fun experience for your babies and an exciting way to create and capture even more magical memories
Who doesn’t love dressing up as their favourite animal? I know I can’t wait to dress little Margot up in some cute outfits like these – especially with Halloween just round the corner. Which animal outfit would you pick?
Another one of my favourite party props is my party tent and unsurprisingly, my little ones who visit the studio love it too – they love to play hide and seek or peekaboo, bobbing in and out. I also make sure there are balloons in the studio for this special occasion and the end result is always full of happy smiles.
