When should I book my family session? Do you offer weekend appointments?

Coordinating diaries can be a juggling act—especially with work, school, and busy family life. To make things easier, I offer a limited number of weekend sessions, particularly with larger families in mind.  If you’re hoping to secure a weekend date, I recommend booking early, as these slots do fill quickly. The booking page has my live availability, so you can find a date and time that works for you.

Is there a catch to the ‘free session?’

It’s natural to wonder, but honestly, no strings here. This complimentary session is my way of welcoming more families into the Dinky Little Dot studio and sharing what we do with others.

You’ll receive a relaxed, professional portrait experience and a beautiful  10×8” fine art print, as a gift – completely free. There’s absolutely no obligation to purchase anything else, though many families do choose to invest in additional prints or digital files once they see their gallery.

To confirm your session, I simply ask for a fully refundable £30 deposit. You’ll get this back at your viewing appointment, or you’re welcome to use it as credit towards anything you may wish to order.

I’ll talk you through your options including lovely keepsakes, framed artwork, or digital bundles – but always with a gentle, no pressure approach.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, absolutely – pets are family too! Dogs are always welcome in the studio. Just let me know in advance so I can prepare a few extra treats and make sure everything is set up to help your furry friend feel calm and included.

What should we wear for the session?

I recommend soft, simple tones and classic styles. For the darker set, navy, forest green, charcoal, or chocolate tones look striking. For the lighter set, off-whites, creams, greys, or pastels work beautifully.

Avoid logos and busy patterns as they can distract from the emotion and connection in your images. Think coordinated, not matching, and aim for comfort as much as style.

There’s space in the studio to get changed between sets, and I always suggest bringing outfits on hangers to avoid creases.

Can we just wear one outfit for the whole session?

Absolutely, this is entirely your choice. If you’d prefer to stay in one outfit throughout, that’s perfectly fine. It can make the session feel simpler, especially with larger families or older relatives who may prefer not to change mid-way. The most important thing is that everyone feels comfortable and relaxed.

How long does a family session last?

Sessions are never rushed. I allow around an hour to an hour and a half, giving us plenty of time to capture a range of images without any pressure. It’s all about creating a relaxed experience where your family can simply be themselves.

When will we see our photographs?

Around one to two weeks after your session, you’ll be invited back to the studio for a dedicated viewing appointment. This will be confirmed at the end of your photoshoot. You’ll see a carefully curated gallery of approximately 20 beautifully edited images. From there, you can select your complimentary print and, if you wish, explore our collection of digital files, wall art, and print options.

Is the studio accessible?

The Dinky Little Dot studio is located upstairs, so unfortunately, it isn’t wheelchair accessible at this time. However, we do have a toilet and amenities available for your comfort during the session. If you have any specific access needs, please feel free to get in touch and I’ll do my best to accommodate you wherever possible. Parking is available nearby, just a short walk from the studio.

What if we need to reschedule?

I completely understand that things don’t always go to plan. If something comes up, just let me know as soon as you can we’ll simply arrange a new date that suits your family. 

What if my children aren’t in the mood?

That’s absolutely okay. Children are unpredictable, and I have plenty of experience working with little ones of all personalities; spirited, shy, or somewhere in between. If the day just isn’t going our way, we’ll re-book your session at no extra cost. My priority is creating an experience that feels calm and enjoyable for everyone involved.
